Tiivistelmä
The choice of a framework for development of web services has a large impact not only on the future attributes of the application, but also on the convenience of the development process itself. Such a choice is made based on both business needs and technical requirements. A special case in the development process is when an application should be created from scratch, which may be caused by applicationspecific requirements or by planned changes in the technology stack.
The aim of this Master’s thesis is to describe and analyse a development process of a web service from scratch with Spring Boot. The current thesis consists of the background part, where a general theoretical description of web services and, in particular, RESTful web services is presented, followed by a presentation of necessary tools, Spring Boot itself, and the specifics of the development process of web services with this framework, as well as of the project, where the development process of the chosen web service with Spring Boot is demonstrated and analysed with a concrete example.
