Tiivistelmä
Finland-Swedes are not well recognized outside of Finland. Based on extensive research across the country, this book explores the history of this group within Canada dating from the 1800s, to the cultural integration, shifting identities and reasons for the apparent decline and assimilation within the multicultural society of Canada at the end of the 1990s. The author explores Old World attitudes and current ethnic relations, which this group maintains in North America. Illustrated with many photos and graphs, the book adds to our understanding of immigration from Finland and the destinations abroad of her emigrants.
